WHY DON’T YOU GO TO CHURCH?

BY THE REV. F. B. MEYER. You don't go to church I I think that I can guess at the reasons you give to satisfy yourself, but are you perfectly sure that they are the reasons? Because. even supposing that you don’t like the doctrine, the people, or the ways of some of the churches or chapels around you, there arc other places where the objections which you allege do not hold. In London, for instance, there are the services of St. Paul’s and Westminster Abbey, where peer and peasant meet on an absolute equality. There are Brotherhood meetings on Sunday afternoons in every neisrnbo'irhood. There are vast audiences in Free Churches, as Dr. Dixon’s at the Metropolitan Tabernacle. and Dr. Campbel! Morgans at, Wesfmm-.-r and Rev. R. J. Campbell’s at the City Temple, where a man does not expect to lie notict-d. but is just merged in the great mass of humanity. Si> much for London, and something of the same kind obtains in the provinces. There are, in all the larger towns, great gatherings of humanity to worship the Almighty, where men and women feci the pulse of human sympathy. Although they speak never a word to end. other, there i ’-■> < onsciousness of loneliness or neglect. Be-can-e each soul becomes thrilled with a nr- sterious telepathy. DON’T STARVE. You will never find a perfect Church. But vou have a religious nature, winch yon arc starving. You have a life to live, which nerds the great horizon and dvnnmic of religious faith. If yon er,nn >t know truth with mathematical certainty. you can at least reach outdumb hands of warning and aspiration. Besides, your wife, children, associates, dependents arc affected by your neglect. Star I up on your feet and look up to the face of God in the unity and company of your fellows!
