LONDON WOOL SALES. (Reeeiv. d 5. 2 p.m.) London, Oct. -1. I Good competition for all grades at full rates. LOCAL FRUIT 4ND PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs. Apsey, White and Co., Hastings, report for the week as follows: — Apples.—Local supplies of all varieties are diminishing, but we still carryfair stocks of Dougherty, Commerce, and Rokewood. Commerce this year has so far proved the best keeper, although in other seasons the other varieties named have been regarded as the best in this respect. Another shipment of apples from California is due shortly. Oranges.—The last shipment from the Islands have been disposed of, and were a very unsatisfactory lot, every case having to be repacked. Sydneys, again arrived in perfect order. Mandarins. —Still arriving in veryfair order, and good prices obtainable. Lemons. —Milduras in very short supply: extreme prices ruling. There are still a few Sydney s coming to hand, but these do not command such high rates. Bananas. —Shipment from Fiji due shortly, and we anticipate quantities available will be greater, and quality -till better than last. This fruit has he-»n very satisfactory for the last two i shipments. | Potatoes.—No alteration in prices. , (Inions.-- 'Frise.is and Japanese only 1 available; very high prices still ruling, j Vegetables. —Carrots, turnips, leeks, J parsnips more plentiful; lettuce, cauli- | .lower and cabbage very scarce ; rhubarb i plentiful.
