HAVELOCK.
A verv pleasant function took place in the Presbyterian Sunday school room last evening, when Miss Longney. organist at the Presbyterian Church, was entertained at a kitchen evening by the members of the choir and King’s String Band to mark the occasion of her approaching marriage. The Rev. R. Waugh presided, and during the evening presented Miss Longney with a handsome silver-mounted salad bowl and hot water jug, subscribed by the choir and the band. Mr. Waugh made a verv happy speech which he concluded by wishing Miss Longney and her fut are husband a long life of health, happiness and prosperity. The guest of the evening was also the recipient < f a useful kitchen utensil from each of those present. The proceedings were interspersed with songs by Mr. Howie, recitations by Miss Duff. se lections by King’s Band ami glees by the choir. conducted by Mr. King. Supper was dispensed at the conclusion of the programme, and .he evening was brought to a e.ese with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
