MANAAVATU CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. Palmerston N., Sept. 12. The Manawatu Golf Club’s championship meeting, which has been largely attended by outside golfers, was concluded at Hokowhitu to-day. The heavy rain of the previous night cleared off in time to start, and the j sandy course had not suffered. THE CHAMPIONSHIP. Semi-finals. In the championship semi-finals Imlay Saunders (Wanganui), playing a very fine game, beat Kapi Tareha (Hawke's Bay), 5 up and 4. effecting a surprise. The two local men. Druce and , Barraud, had to go to the 21st hole pyefore Barraud won. j The Final. I The final in the afternoon provided splendid game. Both went out in 37, and came home in 42. Barrgud beating 'Saunders 1 up. Barraud once before won this championship, and the local club champion. BOGEY HANDICAP. D. K. Murray 8 (Hawke's Bay) i won the Bogey Handicap. 2 up. E. , G. Sim, 7 square, was second. | FOUR-BALL HANDICAP. I Slack Brothers won the Four-ball 1 Handicap. 76- I t- t ; 2.
