The Hon. A. C. Carmichael, in an interview, referring to the Council’s rejection of the Savings Bank Bill, said the Council,was hopelessly out of touch with Democratic feeling and the wishes of the people. “Whom the Gods wished to destroy, they first made mad,” and it seemed to him that, the hasty and repeated actions of the Council were the premonitory signs of its destruction.
