[ OWN COItRESPONDENT. ] The many friends of our local stationmaster (Mr. Finn) will regret to hear of his loss in the death of his wife, which occurred yesterday. Bishop Averill was met at the express last evening by the vicar and vestry of St. Peter’s Parish, also by representatives of the C nurch of England’s Men’s Society, to bid him welcome home. A slight shock of earthquake was felt here at 4.50 pan. yesterday. Mr. B. J. Dolan was on a visit to Waipawa yesterday, and Detective Butler is here to-day.

The. Magistrate’s Court will sit on Wednesday to deal with several criminal charges. A sitting of the (’otirt will also bo held on Thnrsdav.
