DISASTERS AT SEA.
A DAMAGED PROPELLOR. (Received 12, 9.15 a.m.) Capetown, Aug. 11. The Buteshire has been detained five days at Durban repairing her propeller. NORTHERN COMPANY’S STEAMER SUNK. Auckland, Aug. 12. While steaming up the Paeroa river yesterday morning the Northern Company’s steamer Taniwha struck a submerged object and settled on the bottom. The Taniwha was bound from Auckland to Paeroa. She left on Saturday night with a number of passengers on board. All were landed without discomfort. The relief steamer Chelmsford, with two divers and a quantity of salvage gear, was despatched last evening. A telegram from Captain Sullivan states that a large hole has been tern, in the after end of the vessel on the starboard side. The cargo is damaged. It is expected that the vessel will be refloated without great difficultyafter the divers have patched the hull. NABRASKA’S INJURIES NOT SERIOUS. (Received 12, 11.30 a.m.) New York, Aug. 11. Thg...Nebraska is believed not to be seriously injured.
