Y.M.C.A.
HASTINGS BRANCH. The sixth of the series of “Free and Easy” concerts was run at the Y.M.C.A. on Saturday night. The rain prevented a number from attending, but a good programme was provided and enjoyed by all who braved the elements. Air. Loach presided at the piano. He also contributed several comic songs. Air. AfcGuire favoured with a recitation, and solos were sung by Alessrs. Bayliss and Hodges. The feature of the programme was a cornet solo by Mr. AfcKinnie, who played the “Lost Chord” in a manner which provoked loud applause. Air. McKinnie has consented to play again next Saturday and also to provide a bass quartette. The attendance at the men’s meeting was not as large as usual on account of the weather, but a good meeting was held none the less. Air. A. Hodges occupied the chair. Solos were sung by Air. Cunnold and the General Secretary. j Air. G. S. Clapham was the speak- j er. His subject was “England’s ■ bulwarks in time of need.” i
Next Sunday Mr. King will be the speaker, and his subject will be “Is Democracy Substituting God ?”
