UNITED STATES PRESIDENCY.
ROOSEVELT’S NEW PARTY. A POOR CHANCE. New York, July 28. Mr. Roosevelt’s third party has formally been launched in Michigan and New Jersey, but has had many difficulties in other States which will not be seriously tackled until the Roosevelt Convention meets. The most notable problem is the status of the Roosevelt delegates chosen by the convention primaries as Republicans. They ought strictly to vote for Mr. Taft, but should Mr. Roosevelt be bereft of their support it is possible that the courts may be called on to solve the question. Everything points against Mr. Roosevelt making as strong a bid as he did for the Republican ncmina tion. Beth Republicans and DcniochaU" are attacking Mr. Roosevelt for trying by vague generalisatin and misrepresentations to mobilise class discontent.
