The discovery was made at S.dU, hut the body was not cut ■■ down and the police were not in- ' formed till about five o’clock. It is stated that the deceased had been gambling heavily lately. TRAM CONDUCTOR KILLED. Wellington, July 22. | ', A fatal accident befell a train coni’ ductor named Frederick Hancock * j this afternoon. Hancock was stand- j ing on the top of a double-decker running along Featherston street] when his Lead cam? in contact with j one of tiie iron standards which support the overhead wires and was seri iously injured. He was removed i the hospital, where he died to-night. ] Hancock, who is a married man with 1 three clii’dren living- in Tasman I s<rect, sustained a fracture of the j skull. I TWO TRAMS AND A MOTOR CAR COLLIDE. Auckland, July 22. A collision between a motor car ] and two tram cars occurred this even- j ing, by which Mr. Ferguson, a visi- j tor from Greymouth, had one hand ] severely crushed. The driver fail- | j ed to notice a tram car coming in the j ] opposite direction, and the auto-1 mobile struck it.
