STRIKE AVERTED. (Received 23, 10.40 a.m.) Perth, July 23. The threatened strike of the “West Australian” companionship has been averted by an amicable settlement. Coy has been appointed to a position on the “West Australian.” and the financial issues have been adjusted by agreement between the parties. [Coy, formerly sub-printer of the newspaper “West Australian,” obtained a Supreme Court verdict for £5OO and costs against three members of the paper’s “companionship” for conspiring to secure his dismissal. Coy’s solicitor then served a notice on the proprietors of his intention to attach a week’s wages of the defendants ,totalling £l9. The linotype operators and floor hands in the composing room, totalling 25, immediately gave a week’s notice.]
