THE TURF.
NAPIER PARK RACING CLUB. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING. A special general meeting cf the Napier Park Racing Club was held in the Masonic Hotel, Napier, this morning. Mr. J. C. McVay presided over a fair attendance. The meeting was calleci for the purpose cf making alterations and additions to rules and in each case the suggestions were agreed to. The following business was done : — Rule B.—The annual general meeting of the club shall be held during the month of August for the purpose of receiving the report from the outgoing committee and the treasurer’s balance sheet, the election by bailor of president and vice president (if such offices are vacant), also the committee and auditor for the ensuing year, and transacting ordinary business ; and a general meeting shall be called at any time upon a requisition signed by not less than seven members being sent to the secretary, but not earlier than seven and not later than eight days after receipt of such requisition. Proposed alteration: After the word “held” in the first line add “on the last Friday in the month cd August in each year, or as soon after as may be determined by the committee.” Rule 10. —The names of the persons proposed for election as president, vice-j resident and committee of tlie club, shall be sent to the secretary in writing signed by the proposer at least three days before the annual meeting. Proposed alteration: After the word “least” in the third line substitute twenty-one for three. After third paragraph in Rule V the following new rules are proposed : —Should the nominations for any office exceed the number of vacancies ben the election shall be conducted in the following manner. For the election of officers the secretary shall at least ten days prior to the date of the annual meeting post to each member a paper giving i the names of all candidates fur office, and the names of his propos-1 ers. together with an envelope en-1 dorsed “voting paper." and any i member wishing to vote shall erase 1 the name or names of the candidates he may not approve of. leav-, ing the name or names of the candi- ! dates approved intact, provided that! every voting paper shall contain un- ‘ cancelled the same number of names: as there are vacancies to he filled, or it shall be informal, and shall re-! turn to the secretary on or before i the day on which the election or, elections shall take place, the voting paper in the ’ voting paper” envelope .first signing his name on the slip attached. All such envelopes shall be handed to the scrutineers unopened at the meeting at which the ballot takes place. The scrutineers shall first cause a list of the voting members to be made out. and shall then detach the signature slips and place ihe voting paper enve lopes into '.he ballot box before , opened. The scrutineers shall then open the voting papers and report the result of each election to tlm meeting. Rule 15.- All matters at meetings shall be decided by open voting, or if required, by the majority of mem bers present by ballot.
Proposed addition. —After the last word in the rule. viz. "ballot,’' add "except in regard to election of officers which shall be carried cut in accordance with Rule 10.”
