The council replies that whilst not agreeing to such a combination .is the settled policy of the union for future tours, it is agreeable in the interests cf the game to join Queensland ad New- Zealand in sending a team to meet any special case, though there will be difficulties with regard to the selection and gathering of a team. HASTINGS SUB-UNION. The weekly meeting of the Hastings Rugby Sub-union was held ’ast evening, -<lr. J. Garnett presiding. Mr. A. J. Scott was appointed a member cf the management committee-, vice Mr Hamilton resigned. The Wairoa Si’b-turon asked for dates for a match.- It was decided to suggest Augtrd 31st. The Hauke's Bay Paigby Union asked for nominations cf six backs and six fcrwards for a trial match on A'.’gu.-t 14h.- Referred to the selector. Mr. L. F. Pegler. A meeting of the joint committee ■f tlie Hastings and Napier Subjnions was held last evening. Pre;ent: Messrs. J. Garnets (chairman), Pegler, Paul. Stowe, Mackenzie. Ferguson, Keith, Henderson (Hastings), tnd Bailey. McKenzie, Sparkman, Tyne, Wilson and Sheehan (Napier). The Kautuki protest against Pirates, held over from a previous.meet:ng, was again considered, and >n'ormation given as to the views of he N.Z.R.U. and H.B.R.U. on the question.—lt was decided to dismiss he protest and return the fee. Pirates B (thirds) protested against x match being awarded to Calt-c on .he ground cf the inclusion of <--verige players.- -It was resolved that he match should be replayed. # It was decided to notify thir’l;rade teams that any breach cf the age rule would in future be severely dealt With. Pirates A protested against a natch being awarded to Celtic on he ground that ineligible plaj’ers were included in the last mentioned dub’s team.—Protest dismissed.

It was decided, "That it be a rejommendat i.;n to the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union that the suggested .rial match be held cn August 1 Ith, a as to allow the return Napier v. Hastings Sub-union mate!', to be played on August 17th. It v.’.as decided to meet in future every third Saturday, til Napier and Hastings alternately, the next meetng to be held on August-3rd .
