Platt Adams won the high jump, negotiating 1.63 metres. THE MARATHON. WON BY SOUTH AFRICA. (Received 15, 11.15 a.m.) Stockholm, July 14. K. McArthur, of South Africa, won tlic Marathon race in 2h. 36min. 51 4-sscc. Gilsham (South Africa) was second in 2.37.52, and Strobino (.United States) third in 2.38.42 2-5. The race was run in a sweltering heat. The course was very rough and led over several abrupt hillocks. Sixty competitors started, including Lord (of Britain) and Kolehmainen.
