Taking the entries now to hand for the annual show of the Hawke s Bay Kennel Club as a criterion, there appears to ba i very indication of tiiv event being a most successful one from eicry point of view. Dogs to the number cf 161 are on the lists, including the famous miniature Pomeranian, weighing about four and a half pounds, of which Airs. G. Lewis, of Christchurch, is the owner. Wire-haired fox terriers v. ill be forward in larger numbers than formerly, exceeding the smooth haired terrfcr entries by one in the openclass. The former class entries have created a record for thus country. Several breeds new to the disiiiet will be exhibited, including three Irish setters from YVcstport. The shows held by the Ilavkc's Bay Club have always Lccn noted for the high elas' of di-gs shown, and particularly so in relnrion to fox terriers. An extra class for cats has been instituted .and the entries are fairly satisfactory. Two ladies' bracelets will he prrst nted as priz s for the best large and small members of the feline sncci -s in any class, and the departure has excited considerable interest.

Illustrative of the widespread interest taken in the proceedings of the club, it may be mentioned that entries have been received from Dunedin. Christchurch. Westport, Nelson. Wcllingicn. Wanganui. Auckland. Palmerston North, and from many other parts of the Dominion. The folic wing judges have Ugn appointed : —Mr. S. Johnson. Palmerston North, all terriers and cats: Mr. W. A. Smith.
