They said that more subj stantial assistance ought to be given them. ’ Mr. R. T. Fleming, Chief Inspector of Schools who had given j cnee the previous day. explained 1 that he had been misreported in ! connection with his statement as to i salaries. What he had said was i that, as a general rule, the salaries ’ paid to teachers were inadequate.
