LONDON WOOL SALES. London, July 9. At tho wool sales there was a choice selection offered, chiefly New Zealand wool. American buyers were operating freely. Prices remained extremely firm at opening rates. BANK SHARES. Bank of Australasia, £ll9 to £l2l. Bank of New South Wales, £4l to £4.5. Union Bank of Australia, £59/10'- to £6O TO'-. National Bank of New Zealand, £5 15 - to £6/5/-. Bank of New Zealand, £lOlO '- to £ll/5/-. SILVER. Silver is quoted at 2/4. N.Z. L. AND M. CABLE.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office: —
“As compared with last sale’s closing rates, prices are higher by about par to 5 per cent, for crossbred lambs and scoured merino; about 5 per cent, for crossbred scoured, coarse greasy crossbred. crossbred slips, and greasy merino; 7} to 10 per cent, for medium ano tine greasy crossbred. Sales gain firmness as they progress. American buyers are operating freely."
