ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS.

COURT HERLTAUNGA. The half-yearly summoned meeting of the above lodge was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings, last .evening, C.R, Bro. 1.. E. N. Holmes presiding over a large attendance. Routine business was transacted, and a letter of condolence «as ordered to be sent to the widow and family of the late Bro. J. G. Gilberd (Napier). The delegates to the Hawke’s Bay "United Friendly Societies’ Council reported that the Council had had a very successful quarter and a credit balance on the quarter’s operations.

The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted resulted as follows: —C.R., Bro. J. R. Foote; S.C.R., Bro. G. H. Davis ; treasurer. Bro. A 11. Lys ; secretary. Bro. E. W. Furniss; S.VV, Bro. R. P. Shaw; J.W.. Bro. A. Frude ; 5.8., Bro. A. B Marchant ; J. 8., Bro. F. Poppelwell.

. The retiring Chief Ranger, Bro. Holmes, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services during his term of office, and it was decided to present him with a P.C'.R. jewel, the first occasion since the establishment of the Order in Hastings that this honour has been conferred upon a member. —Bro. Holmes suitably responded. A hearty vote of thanks was also passed to the retiring officers. The cash receipts for the quarter amounted to £lO5.
