THANKS FROM HOAIE

The following lines of thanks appeared in a Nottingham ’paper. In referring to the gift the editor ot the Home ’paper wrote: " England’s prosperous child has not -forgotten her parent in that parent’s hour of need. It is a great lesson co all children in all places in her dominoins” :— Our thanks to thee, New Zealand, Who hunger’s cloud didst lift From many a British homes'eml By thy most timely gift. Brave men were bravely struggling For belter chance live, For brighter homes, and may joys, Their labour failed to trivf;. in labour’s bi:fei struggle It proved, as aye it must, The weakest had their faces pressed The nearest to the dust. Then came thy gift. New Zealand, To give us hope and heart. And show that in our direst need Thou still wouldst bear a part. - Our love to ib.ee. Nev. Zealand, Here’s "hands across the sea,” Thanks for thy gift, but most we prize The love that prompted thee.
