CASUALTIES.
DEATH UNDER OPERATION. Auckland, June flfl. Mr. Owen. Lynch, aged 63 years, ; died in the Hospital under an opera* tion for throat complaint. * FALL FROM A SCAFFOLD. At 9.45 this morning, a labpurer named Leonard Hammond, engaged on the works at the now municipal theatre now in process of erection at Napier, ■ fell from a scaffolding about thirty feet in height, and hud uti exceedingly narrow escape from sustaining fatal injuries. In falling he was fortfeute to , clutch a rope running on a pulley. The rope, of course, ran out, yet it broke his fall very considerably, and he only sustained a few bruises, no bones being broken. After receiving medical attention at the hands of Dr. T C. Moore, he was removed home. TIRED OF LIFE. Dauncvirke, June 29. Edmondson Green, labourer, aged 71 years, living with his married daughter ' at Kiritaki, committed suicide this morning by cutting his throat. SUDDEN DEATH AT NAPIER. Mr. Thomas Christopher Crabbe, aged 78 years, taxidermist, expired suddenly about 6 p.m. last evening, at his residence, Spencer road. Napier.
