LOYAL HASTINGS LODGE, I.O.O.F., M.U.

The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Hastings Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M. was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall last evening, Bro. W. E. Farrington, N. presiding. There was a large attendance of member's, and much business was transacted.

Accounts amounting to £lO5 were passed for payment, and contributions for the evening totalled £125.

A considerable amount of correspondence dealing with lodge- business was dealt with, after which the election of officers for the ensuing half-year was carried out, resulting as follows: — N.G., Bro. W. Simmons ; V.G., Bro. A. Dale; Elective Sec., Bro. A. Davidson. Bro. W. E. Farrington, the retiring N.G:, was advanced to .the position of G.M. These officers, as also the Permanent Secretary, were duly installed by the Worthy Lecture Master, P.P. G.M. Bro. G. Love. Bro. W. White was appointed Guardian for the ensuing half-year, and Bro. W. Taylor re-elected Warden. .

P.P.G.M. Bro. G. D. Love proposed (in accordance with notice of motion, slightly amended), and P.G. Bro. T. J. Davidson seconded, “ That this lodge request the secretary of the local Medical Association to call a meeting of that body within fourteen days to meet a deputation from the various Lodges to discuss matters of great interest to all lodges.” This was carried unanimously, and the mover and P.G. Bro. T. Keith were appointed delegates to the conference.

A complete revision of the by-laws, as drawn up by a sub-committee, was then made and confirmed, instructions being issued to the secretary to make arrangements for printing same.

A large number of members intimated their intention of accepting the invitation of the Loyal Napier Lodge for a euchre tournament on July 4th.
