As the result of examination of the census figures the Federal Statistician declares the population tf Australia to be fundamentally .British. TJie he .says, is little other than a transplanted Briton with the essential characteristics of his forebears. Probably three or four more generations will have to pass before' it will- be possible to point out a distinct Australian type.
