TARADALE TRAM SCHEME.
Elsewhere in to-day’s issue we publish a letter from, the secretary of the Taradale-Napier Tramway League, which should go a consider? able way to relieve any doubts which have been raised regarding the intentions of the promotors. The secretary has explained definitely that there is no scheme yet adopted and all the league proposes to dq at present is to collect data to place before .the ratepayers. This is unquestionably not only the right course .to pursue to gain and hold |he confidence of the public,, but it is wise from a business point of view. It will be seen that the league proposes to make enquiries regard;: irig four different methods of tion, and if the investigations are thoroughly carried out there will be. valuable information to place before the people when the time arrives fop. 1 a final decision. There’, can be no doubt that tramway extension to . Taradale has big'possibilities, and if the persons directly interested hold firmly to a sound public spirit and studiously avoid any attempt to introduce factional differences there should be little to hinder the adoption of an efficient quick transit system at an early date.
