CONCILIATION COURT.
A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held at the Hastings Courthoure this morning to consider the demands made by the General Labourers’ Union.
Mr. P. A. Hally. Conciliation Commissioner. presided, and the following assessors were present: —her the employers. Messrs. S. E. M right (secretary of the Employers’ Association). John Holt and J. H. Colebourne ; for the union. Messrs. M. T. Reardon, J. M. Campbell and F. O’Keefe, of Wellington. The fruitgrowers were represented bv Messrs. A. Moore. A. Masters and J. Uehling. Mr. Gavae Allen represented the Hastings Union. The demands made by the union have already been published. The Council sat till 1 p.m.. but no agreement was arrived at regarding hours or wages.
The clauses, method c-f payment, suburban worker', under rate workers and preference to unionists wer adopted. The Conned will s : t at Wanganui on Monday next and ’f the proposals are agree I to there, will be signed are agreed to there they will be signed by the parties.
