FOOTBALL.

HAWKE’S BAY RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Management Committee was held last evening in Napier. Present -.—Messrs. Bailey (chairman), Douglas, Spackman, Williams, and Hislop.

Mr. Paul Hunter wrote accepting the position of vice-president and donating £3/3/- to the funds of the union.—To be thanked. Dannevirke Sub-union wrote asking for date for a match in Napier, and suggesting that it be fixed for a Wednesday. —Referred to Napier Sub-union. Manawatu Union wrote suggesting June 29th as the date for thenrepresentative match in Napier.—Accepted. Poverty Bay Union wrote stating their inability to pick a team by the 22nd, but that they would fix a date to fit in with other fixtures.—Received.

Wairoa Sub-union wrote with reference to the suggested tour of its representatives, arid asking that dates for matches Be fixed. —Subunions to be communicated with, suggesting dotes.

Wairoa Sub-union forwarded an application for the removal of the disqualification of J. Snoswell.— Hawke’s Bay Union could not recommend that the disqualification be removed. The New Zealand Union w-rote requesting that W. O’Neil, of Hastings, be informed that in future all communications to that union must be forwarded through the Hawke’s Bay Union. —Received;

East Coast Sub-union forwarded an appeal by the Wallingford Club against the disqualification of their teajn by the sub-union. —Considerable documentary evidence was gone through, and the conclusions come to were:—(l) That in regard to the action of the referee in ordering. R; White off the field; this union is of the opinion that the referee’s action was justifiable; and (2) that in regard to the suspension of the team, the case is one coming within rule 15, and the suspension Was iirregular, inasmuch that each offender was not notified in writing and given an opportunity of defending himself. • '

It was resolved to draw tlie Hastings Sub-union’s attention to the, fact that this union had..riot yet received an insurance policy this season, for the Hawkes Bay challenge shield. .

The following matches were arranged for Saturday :—Juniors : Havelock v. Okura, No. I ground, Mr. Stubbs; Celtic v. Rovers, No. 2, Mr. Stevens. Thirds: Rovers v. Pirates A, No. 3, Mr. Katene. All the above matches commence at 3 p.m. Frimley v. Tomoana, No. 1, Mr. Gill, 1.45 p.m.
