£5OOO DAMAGES CLAIMED BY ARCHBISHOP CLARKE.
June 17. The action brought by Archbishop Clarks against John Norton, editor of the newspaper “Truth,” claiming £5OOO damages, has been commenced.
The alleged libel was contained in an article dealing with the case of Canon Nash, wherein the Archbishop was stigmatised as a “nightman, a pestilent parasite, an inquisitor, an Anglican anarchist, and challenged to meet the writer in a court of law.”
