COTTAGE AT HASTINGS

An outbreak of fire occurred in a five-roomed cottage situated in Havelock road. Hastings, near the intersection of Schvuod road, about 8.30 o'clock on Saturday night. The firebell sounded a vigorous alaim, and members of the Fire Brigade and Fire Police Corps mustered promptly, the hose reel beng tewed to the scene of the fire at the rear of a motor car. The flames had almost devoured the building when the brigade arrived, but with the assistance of the high pressure water supply, which was used for the first time, the blaze was quenched in very quick time, and a portion of the structure saved. The house, which was unoccupied was owned by Mr. Robert Goos<man. and was insured in th>office for £l2O.
