THE WERRTWA ELECTION
Sydney, June 2. In the by-election for Werriwa to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Hall the returns are incomplete. Bennett (Labour) is loading. This is the first contest under the new Electoral Act, which prevent* comments by newspapers except over the writer’s signature. SPEAKER WILLIS. Sydney, June 2.Mr. Willis. Speaker in the N.S.W. House of Assembly, speaking at the turning of the first sod of the Werriwa railway, defended his actions in Parliament in claiming precedence, and claimed that since he had been Speaker he had secured the enfranchisement of 25 per cent, more people, and had saved the £lOO,OOO. RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION LABOUR.
