A meeting of followers of the Northern Rugby League game was held in the Albion Hotel, Nqpicr, last evening, when Mr. George Gillett, of Auckland—an cx-All Black Rugbv player and a member, of the league team that recently visited the Old Country—who is league organiser for New Zealand, gave ar interesting address on the Northern League game. Mr. G. Proctor presided. In the course of his address Mr. Gillct said that the game would become very popular if it was only given a fair trial, and he thought that prospective plavcrs and the public generally would soon recognise that the Northern Union rules were preferable. At the conclusion of his address, which dealt very fully with all poinis of the game, Mr. Gillett was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
A representative Hawke’s Bay Northern Rugby League team will leave for Wellington to-morrow morning to play a match against Wellington on Jilonclav.
