Evening Continuation Classes commence at the Waipawa Technical School on Tuesday, June 4th, at. 7 p.m. Mr. H. C. Collett has disposed of his picture business to Mr. H. J. Rogers, of Auckland. A scries of sermons by the Vicar of St. Peter’s will be commenced next Sunday evening on the subject of “Life after Death.” The sermons should attract large congregations.
A coal famine seems in evidence here, owing to the shortness of supplies from Taupiri. The usual monthly Otane stqck sale was held to-day. The monthly meetings of the Waipawa Borough Council and the County Council will be held on Monday next. The Salvation Army hold special services on Sunday and Monday next, when their Dannevirke Brass Band will be in attendance.
The Holiday Association announce that the shops will close on Monday next (King’s Birthday). An enjoyable “social was held in the new Hall at Argyle last night, the proceeds of which arc .to be handed to the School Committee. The following contributed to the enjoyment of those present by rendering items : —Lady Muriel Deck, Mrs. Wilton, Miss Corskie, Dr. Deck. Messrs. Wilton, Oliver, and Wilkie.
It is proposed to tender a social to Mr. G. Hunter, M.P., by his friends, and supporters in the district, some time in June.
