In the Reichstag debate on foreign policy the Socialists declared that an understanding depended on Germany alone, as Great Britaui had repeatedly pronounced iti favour ci an entente.

Dr. Spahn, of the Centre Party, desired Germany’s relations with England to be as intimate and good as possible. Herr Basserman said that they must find means of rapprochement with Great Britain. Her von Kiderlin Wacchtcr stated stated it was erroneous io think that Germany was opposed to the abolition of the right of seizure at sea. He commended the English system of rigorously insisting on demands which fitted in xvith British policy.
