CONFERENCE OF SURVEYORS.
NEW ZEALAND THE AVORLD’S
LEADER
Melbourne, Alay 20.
At the conference of SurveyorsGeneral of Australia and New Zealand, the Hon. K. O’Malley. Alinister for Home Affairs, in an opening speech said that he was specially gratified that New Zealand was represented. His own opinion was that New Zealand xvould ultimately become part of the ('onnnonwealth. If that would have the effect of arresting her march towards democracy he would rather she did not become a partner of the Commonwealth. New Zealand at present was the world’s leader in economies and humanitarian laws. The eyes oi the world were turned to New Zealand first, and to Australia second, as in older times they were first 1 inniii to Athens and then to Rome.
