THE CATLINS RAILWAY.

Dunedin, May 9. The Prime Minister this morning received a deputation from Gatlins. Railway League. They asked that a ■efficient sum be placed on the estinates to complete the line within a rear. Mr. Mackenzie said he did not think it possible, in view of the ■ yinion expressed by the country against the great borrowing that had taken place. Rightly or wrongly, people were against borrowing and f lessened borrowing occurred in hitiire, pro rata, this line 'w ould get its share. He would do his utmost i.o continue a policy of progress. •Vita regard to Gatlins line, it was one of the great feeders of Dunedin.
