GRAND LODGE OF FREEMASONS.

Dunedin, Mav 8.

The Grand Lodge of Freemasons met at Burns’ Hall this afternoon for the annual communication. Grandmaster Bro. Allen, president, presided, and was attended by Past Grandmasters Bros. Nickoil, Williams, Burton and Binns. A delegation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Canterbury was introduced by Bro. Binns. The Board of Benevolence distributed £240 during the year. Appeals through lodges realised £XOBB. The Board recommended an extension of their powers to realise from £5O to £lOO during the year. The Grand Lodge funds had increased by £2956, and permanent investments had increased from £25,500 to £26,000.

Bro. Maurice Thompson, of Invercargill was elected Grandmaster for the current year, with the following officers : —Chaplain, Bro. Rev. Knowles-Smith; President of Board of General Purposes, Bro. Thomas Ross ; President of Board of Benevolence, Bro. J. J. Clark ; Director of Ceremones, Bro. W. Flett; stewards, Bros. Thomson and Appleby; Board of General Purposes, Bros. Laing, George, Harris, Hastings, Cameron, Jenkins; Board of Benevolence, Bros. Gallagher, McNaughton, Ritchie, Mailer, Pinell.
