London, April 26. At the wool sales there was an active! demand for all sorts, and prices continue firm. There is strung competition 1 for fine-haired merinos.

Messrs. Daigety and Company have received the following cable advice from their London house “ The progranfaio of tho wool sales will bo shortened by three davs, the sales closing on th* 4th May. Tallow: Mutton prime since dur • last wire is 6d to 9tf per cwt higher; other descriptions being unchanged in price to 6d per cwt more. The frozen meat market is steady, prices.beirig unchanged. The supply is small, hilt the demand has faller, off considerably. Prices for merino combing skins are unchanged since our last wire; clothing skins higher by jd per lb, Crossbred combing skins Jd per lb higher,' crossbred clothing, anv change in price is in sellers’ favour.”

Williams and Kettle, Ltd., report on their Otane sale yesterday as follows:— There was a good attendance of buyers. We effected the following sales:—42 forward ewes 8/8. 60 fat ewes 13./3, 63 fat and forward ewes 11/-, 37 forward Jambs 10/9, 44 fat and forward e-wes. 11/-, 102 fat ewes 13’-, 47 empty store ewes 7/4, 189 lambs ftnixed sexes) 10/-, 300 2-tooth wethers 12/6, 37 fat and forward ewes 11/7, 12 wether lambs 10/2, 3 fat lightweight heifers £5/10/-, yearling steer £2/3/-. The Loan and Mercantile Agency .Go*, Ltd., report the following sales at Otane yesterday:—One fat heifer £6/15/-, on* fat cow £6/3/6, one empty cow £3, ohe at £3/10/-, 2 fat cows £4/14/-, 2 yearling steers £2, one bull £l, 86 fat ewes 13/7, 62 fat ewes 11/11, 111 fat 1 and forward ewes 9/7, 78 empty ewes 7/9, 48 cull ewes 5/2. 73 Down cross lambs 9/3, 70 Romney lambs 8/5, 32 mixed aged wethers 11 /I.
London, Stewart and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual monthly sale at Otane yesterday, when they offered a large yarding of sheep and cattle to a large and representative attendance of the public. The bidding throughout for all classes of stock was exceptionally keen, especially for fat cows and heifers, and practically the whole yarding offered’changod hands at prices satisfactory to vendors.
