PRINCESS THEATRE, HASTINGS. “ PINOCCHIO.”

At the Princess Theatre to-night will he scre-ened “Pinocchio.” Geppetto is an old Italian woodcutter, and one day he fashions from' a big tree-trunk a magnificent puppet. So skilfully has he done his work that the fantastic doll actually takes breath and lives, much to the amazement of its honest creator, upon whom the parentage of an irresponsible toy-boy is unwillingly forced. Pinocchio, however, proves a loveable, if difficult, son, and through all his adventures his good old father sticks bravely to him with a deep and unshaken affection. After creating fearful havoc wherever ho goes, in his exuberance at being alive. Pinocchio has the carelessness to burn off his wooden feet, which he allows to dangle in the fire whilst sleeping. Geppetto provides him with a new pair, and then Pinoqchio starts out on his wonderful series of advantures, which are so varied and so extraordinary that, were we to write all night, we could not do justice to them all.

OLYMPIA RINK, HASTINGS

Skaters will be pleased to know that the rink re-opens on Wednesday afternoon next. During the time it has been closed down it has had a thorough overhauling. 'Flie floor is now in first-class order, and the skates have all been seen to. Ten large mirrors have been installed, which give the rink a far better appearance. Several extra lights have been installed, which w ill light up every corner of the rink. The large room in front of the hall has been , specially fitted up as a learners’ room, and w ill be opened for learners during the afternoon and evening sessions. A railing has been put right round the .•oom. so those who have not learned the art of skating will have no fear of 1 -aiming now. It has been found necessary to reduce the number of hours during which the rink is open, and in future sessions will be from 2.30 to 4.30 in the afternoons and from 8 to 10.5 in the evenings. The charges are the same as hitherto, with the exception of a charge of 6d for floorage. The management have found that the upkeep of the floor has been very heavy, and this small | rxtra charge is therefore made. Mr. L. Marshall will have charge of the ilcor. and will have under him two instructors, who will teach all learners how to skate. The private boxes for skates have been doubled. The rink ■vill be open continuously from the Ist of May until the warm weather sets in, when it is expected that pictures will be shown in the laree hall.
