At the Association game Ireland (3 goals) beat Wales (2 goals). SEASON OPENED AT WELLINGTON. Wellington, April 13. The football season was opened on Saturday with a seven-aside tourney in Athletic Park. There was a large attendance. Athletic beat Southern by 15 to nil, winning the senior tornament. Sixteen teams took part. In the fifth-class tournament Wellington College won the final from Melrose by 17 to nil. Eight teams participated in this. The weather was fine but cold. Batty, a member of the Southern team, bad an arm broken in the final by colliding with the grandstand.
