PLUNKET NURSE FUND.
BABY SHOW. The baby show and garden fete which was arranged to take place on Mr. R. D. D. McLean’s grounds, Napier, yesterday afternoon, and •which had to be postponed owing to /the bad weather, was held this afternoon under most favourable conditions. There was a large attendance of ladies, and games of croquet were played on the ground. The prizes are to be presented by Mrs. J. V. Brown. The judges of the babies were Mrs. Crawshaw and Miss Macdonald, Matron of the Napier Hospital. Up to the time of going to press there were 50 babies entered in the various classes. The various stalls were controlled as follows :— Bran Pie.—Mis Mayne. Sweets. —Mrs A. D. Brown. Croquet.—Mrs Newton. lice Cream and Soft Drinks.— Mrs Blamires and Miss Harrison. Afternoon Tea. —Mrs Kelly ana Mrs Williams. Toy and Doll Stall.—Mrs S. E. McCarthy. Produce. —Mrs McLernon. Flowers. —Miss Kennedy. Cakes. —Mrs Oliver Dean and Mrs Tait. Fairy Grotto. —Mrs Morgan and Mrs Neville. The following competitions were judged yesterday before the rain forced a postponement : — Button-holes (over B).—Miss Irene Mayne 1, Miss R. Brabant 2. Button-holes (under 8). —Miss Noeline Crawshaw 1, Miss Rae Wilson 2. Button-holes (for boys).— ian Mackay 1. Needle-book.—Miss Gillies I, Mrs. Dixon 2. Dressed Dolls (over 12). —Miss Isabel Barry 1. Dressed Doll (under 12). —Miss Esme Morgan. Decorated Bicycles.—Master Lees Stuart I. Decorated Tricycle.—Master Gordon Brown 1, Miss Freda Sturrock 2. Decorated Parasol. -Miss Hargare Mackey 1.
