WAIPAWA.
(Own Correspondent.) Large congregations attended the Eattcr services at the various churches. St. Peters was nicely decorated for the occasion and hymns the chants were sung appropriate tithe season. At St. Patrick’s Church Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Saunderson and the musical setting was “Turton's” (No. 2). The work was beautifully rendered under the conductorship of Mr. E. H. Lee. The contrasts in light and shade as demanded by the various themes of the piece being effectively given. Miss Shanly presided at the organ and the solos were in capable hands. At Vespers an Ave Maria by “A. Cary” was rendered in a devot'O’i-d manner. The church was beautifully decorated for the Festival by inc Sisters of St. Joseph. The outward traffic- from the Waipawa railway station for the year ending March 31st included : Passengers 25,162. sheep 69.126. wool (bales) 6115. I am told by an employee of she freezing works tu Paki Paki that from December 25th until March 31 st about 140,000 sheep have been dealt with at the works, and at Tomoana about 278.000 for the same period. These tallies. I believe, constitute records for c'ther of the works fc-r the period named.
