WAIPAWA.
(Own Correspondent.) The local staff of Messrs. Williams and Kettle met iii the manager's office on Thursday evening and presented Mr. Willie Carson with a fountain pen to mark 'the’ occasion of his severance from 1 the staff. Mr. Renouf, manager, who made the presentation, referred to the amiable qualities of the recipient and to the esteem in whicli he was held by his fellow employees and "wished him every success in the future, and the same mark of appreciation wa sendorsed by the staff. Mr. Carson takes up a position in the office of Messrs. Lee and Wedde, solicitors of this town, after the Easter holidays. The local friendly societies have decided to canvas the district on Saturday, April 20th, for funds in aid of a district hospital. Idembers of the various lodgep in the outlying district are to be asked to co-operate A badge is to be given subscribers of 2/6 or over, thus securing them from further molestation. Messrs. H. C. Collett and H- Fletphey were appointed joint secretaries.
