NOT MUCH DAMAGE DONE
(Received 3, 11.20 a.m.) Malta, April 2
The Peninsula and Oriental Company’s steamer Syria, bound for Japan, collided with the French steamer Civice, near Algiers, during a clei.se fog. The Syria had 94 passengers, who rushed on deck, but there was no panic. Neither vessel was seriously damaged, but the Syria will be delayed for four days for repairs.
