The National Sailors and Firemen’s Union is preparing demands for August in order to secure the employment of an additional 20,000 men and to eliminate 3000 Lascars and other Asiatics, and also to increase the number of hands according to the size of the ship. U.S. COALMINERS’ STRIKE. New York, April 2. The miners take a referendum on April 10th. The president of the Miners’ Federation is hopeful of resumption on April 20th in consequence of the conciliatory attitude of the mine owners. THE LITHGOW TROUBLE. Sydney, April 2. . The Lithgow strikers’ ballot decided by a two to one majority to accept the proposed agreement.
