SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. [per press association.] Wellington, March 14 Satisfactory progress is repoite ' of the work carried out under the provisions of the Land for Settlement Act. Ip to 31 st of Marc’’ last year, eleven associations had been incorporated, with a member ship of 68 and an area of 91 S 3 acres, valued at £132.802. Since then thirteen associations have beei formed as under :— Auckland : Five associations, membership 14, area Gt>7B, purchasmoney £68,945. Canterbury: Four associations, membership 23, area 4527, purchase money £-15,641. Southland : Two associations, membership 16, area 4244. purchase money £31.239. Totals: 13 associations, membership 83, area 14,849, purchase money £145,824. Negotiations for the acquisition of five or six properties in Auckland district and one in the South Island are now proceeding.
