SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICS.

TREATMENT OF A STRIKER. Capetown, Mar. 12. In the. House of Assembly Mr. Patrick Duncan moved the adjournment of the House to discuss the prison treatment of Whitaker Morant, arrested in connection with the Johannesburg tramway strike and afterwards released, who secured damages against the Governor of the Johannesburg gaol because he was treated as a convicted prisoner. Much comment was roused owing to Mr. Hcrtzog justifying the departmental action on the ground of the emergency of the situation. General Botha treated the motion as a mere attempt to make partycapital out of the matter.
