A RUSSIAN FOOTHOLD. (Received 9, 12.30 p.m.) London, March 8. The “Pall Mall Gazette,” in an anticle on Denmark’s concession to a syndicate for developing St Thomas harbours, points out that Russian financiers, including the Danish Princess, sister of Queen own the bulk of the stock. The enterprise is intended tc provide a Russian footing near Panama. [St. Thomas is an in the West Indies about 50 miles west of Porto Rico. It is a Danish possession. |
