RUNNING TIME 13 HOURS 33 MINUTES. yyiTH the object of tuning up a new E.M.F. “3Q” that arrived on Friday, ex Queen Amelia, Messrs. Adams, Limited, Timaru, decided to give the car a run to the Hermitage and back, distance 274 miles. The car was quickly unpacked and assembled on Saturday, and without any special preparation the trip was done without a mechanical adjustment of any kind ; her big engine of thirty horse-power drove her. through mud, and unmade mouhtain roads, in the face of a howling nor’wester, and landed her five passengers in time for lunch at the Hermitage. The return trip was jast as uneventful, and it was only a matter of opening up the throttle lever and she ran on without any fuss or bother. Record breaking was not the object in view, the trip being only a pleasant Sunday tour; mountain roads, nor’-west winds, riverbeds, shingle, mud and rain are simple propositions for the E.M.F. “30” and Flanders “20” to solve.
