CASUALTIES.
FATALITY AT TAUPIRI. Auckland, March 7. A fatal accident occurred in the Taupiri Coal Company’s extended mine to-day. The trucks broke away on an incline, and a trucker named' G. Bain was jambed between them and a full skip which he was attending to. The deceased received terrible injuries and died almost at once. He came from Aberdeen, Scotland. JOCKEY INJURED. Auckland, March 7. At Te Aroha races to-day a horse named Cuckoo slipped and fell, bringing down Master Lane. The former’s jockey (McFlynfi) sustained serious injury to his back, and Master Lane's rider (Sceats) hat( both collarbones broken. WOMAN INJURED BY Wellington, March 7. A woman, so far unidentified, was knocked down by a tramcar in Featherstone street to-night and had a leg broken and her head badly cut. She was taker, to the hospital.
