THE LATE MR. CAMPBELL.
TO THE EDITOH. Sir, —Those of us who knew the late H. M. Campbell of P.’.kawa can testify to his nobleness of life and character and his liberality of heart. We are quite positive that no selfish or unworthy action was he capable of. How unfortunate that the son of so worthy a man should at the outset of his political life have fallen foul of a man who would blacken the character of our noblest Hawke’s Buy gertli-mr.n. Tim action of the member for Nnpier is on a par with that (,'i a well known journal, which some year.-i ago attacked Sir Joseph Ward, through his father, and doubtlets this paper will applaud 31r. Brown’s action, not so the Hawke's Bay public, who knew and respected the gentleman he condemns. —I am, etc.. JUSTICE.
