RAILWAY CELEBRATION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
The Executive Committee of the East Coast Railway Celebration met this morning. Present : Messrs. Simm, Beecham, Patterson. Ross, Higgins, and Donaldson. A statement was laid upon the table showing that the sum of £3OB 3 6 had been collected and accounts had been rendered up to date amounting to £lBl, leaving a surplus of £lB-1. A few accounts have yet to come in.
It was decided to place the surplus in the bank on fixed deposit for twelve months and to authorise that it be used in connection with the opening ceremony when the first train runs to Petane.
Votes of thanks were passed to the persons who kindly gave the use of conveyances : to the hon. sec. and treas., Mr. McLernon for donation of trophies ; to Mr. Bourgeois and his committee for arranging sports ; Mr. vloeller for providing the luncheon ; to all those who supplied bunting and to Mr. J. Vigor Brown for promoting the celebration.
