VIOLIN AND ORGAN RECITAL.
I Thera was a large attendance at St. I Matthen's Church. Hastings, on Thiirsi day e.-ening, to hear the violin and 'organ recital by Miss Ava Symons ami | Mr. P. W. Tombs. Miss Symons was |in excellent form, and her exquisite | bowing pro’, ided an unusual treat. Her 1 numb ’rs included the ever popular 1 “ Saint d’Amour ” by Elgar, and a 1 beautiful serenade by Pierne. In a I composition I'or two violins and organ, 1 Miss Symons was ably assisted by anI other talented lady violinist. Miss j Dobbir. and trio was heard with fine t vnwt. Mr. Tombs' numbers were exj wilted with his usual artistic ability. | his most enjoyable items being Sehu--1 beet's "Ave Maria ” and Bach’s Pr: 1 - ; lud-. and Fugii" in C minor. Mr. Tombs 1 was also hoard to ad.antag' in tiro ! Christmas themes. Interlude in F and Offertoire (Guilmant). anil Festive I Marell (Smart).
